Metallic paraphernalia should be removed.  For X-rays of the abdomen (KUB), any prior ingested radiographic oral contrast should be allowed to clear.  This will require 2–3 days.

A bowel prep is often required to obtain a clear X-ray of the abdomen.

General Contraindications:
X-rays should be avoided during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester.  If absolutely essential, a protective lead shield barrier will be provided to protect contraindicated zones.
